Acceptable Use Policy

The 4th Utility Acceptable Use Policy

We have an Acceptable Use Policy for the use of your internet access services, whereby you must ensure that you:

  • comply with current legislation
  • use the internet in an acceptable way
  • do not create unnecessary business risk to us by your misuse of the internet

Unacceptable behaviour

In particular the following is deemed unacceptable use or behaviour by you:

  • using the computer to perpetrate any form of fraud, or software, film or music piracy
  • using the internet to send offensive or harassing material to other users
  • downloading commercial software or any copyrighted materials belonging to third parties, unless this download is covered or permitted under a commercial agreement or other such licence
  • hacking into unauthorised areas
  • publishing defamatory and/or knowingly false material on social networking sites, 'blogs' (online journals), 'wikis' and any online publishing format
  • introducing any form of malicious software into our network
  • using your internet connection as provided by us to re-sell broadband services to other people in your property or local area, for example by running a server farm in your house.

Sanctions

Where we find that you have failed to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy we will warn you that we believe an infringement has taken place. If you then still use our services in breach of this Acceptable Use Policy, we reserve the right to suspend your access to the services we provide you. Thereafter we may end our agreement with you altogether if we are still not satisfied that you will not be in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy in the future.
